Zak and Zoe travel to Ireland for their first Valentines Day as husband and wife. They have been invited to attend a murder mystery weekend in a real haunted castle. During their first night at the castle, they find one of the guests dead. Really dead. As they delve into the murder they begin to see that not only are things not as they appear, but several of the other attendees are not who they claim to be. During the course of her investigation Zoe discovers a secret about herself that is more than just a little shocking.

Why can't I give this more than five stars? It deserves at least eight!If you are a cozy mystery reader and have not yet discovered this series you must be living under a rock, or in the abandoned dungeon under an Irish castle.
This Valentine's adventure will appeal to readers of Philippa Gregory, viewers of tv's Reign, Victoria Holt fans and Nancy Drew fans equally. Not to leave out fans of Murder She Wrote, both the books and television series. Zoe and Zak have not been married long but life doesn't afford them much alone time. With a houseful of kids, busy careers and zillions of community obligations, the chance to get away together is a welcome change. Add in the chance to perhaps meet ghosts in a real castle. This time murder IS on the schedule but it is supposed to be pretend.
I wanted to take my time reading this because I loved the idea so much. I had a difficult time pulling myself away because the story is so much better than I imagined. I already love the main couple and Charlie. The setting is described so enticingly that I could see it clearly. The tension building as clues were exposed and then twisted. A very thorough mystery but not too complicated for a cozy read.
I really want to spend more time with the psychic!
This can easily be enjoyed as a stand alone but for die hard series fans there is information connected to what is happening back home in Ashton Falls, or at least clues that something is up.
I look forward to reading more in this series and the spin-off.
I am glad I do not have to wait long. I appreciate growth in Zoe and in Kathi Daley as an author.

I’ve been following Zoe and Zak since book one with each book better than the one before. How can they get any better than this one, “Shamrock Shenanigans”? Kathi Daley has outdone herself again!
Zak and Zoe have been invited to Ireland to participate in a murder mystery weekend at a haunted castle. A huge rain storm that goes on for days has them stranded on the little island since the bridge and the roads have been closed. They brought their little terrier, Charlie, with them and after dinner they take him for a walk. That’s when Charlie leads them to his discovery of a dead body, a for real dead body. The murder mystery game is off. Of course Zoe and Zak are going to investigate and try to solve the murder. They are stranded on the island with the killer with no way to report the murder or call for help since there is no phone service and no internet because of the storm! The suspects include everyone at the castle since they don’t really know any of these people. The ending was a total surprise, as all good endings should be in the cozy genre. I can’t wait to read her next book!
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again Kathi Daley writes all her books so they are clean and appropriate for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries from age 12 to 112. Thank you for writing wonderful books, Kathi!

of the books in this series.
I enjoyed all of the Zoe Donovan stories, but this one is
a cut above the others.
The fact that I am half Irish, may have a wee bit to do
with my connection to this tale.
I gave, Shamrock Shenanigans, 5 stars because the story
line was outstanding and very complex.
But, you had to pay close attention, or you would have
missed the subtle psychological messages, the author
crafted between lines.
Descriptions were spot on, and the characters well defined,
as usual.
One of the best books in the series, to this point.

This is the 19th in the Zoe Donovan Series and Kathi continues to keep the series fresh and evolving. The are clean fun reads that are suitable for YA through old coots like me. Kathi has a clean writing style that makes for a pleasant read. Her books are well plotted, well written and well edited. She has worked with her editor for a long time and it is apparent that they work well together. These are mainstream cozies and have recipes and the end. The recipes are submitted by readers and match up to the theme of the story.
These are not cliff hangers, each book is complete unto itself but part of the fun that many of Kathi's readers enjoy about her books is that she allows her characters to grow. So if this is your first Zoe book you will want to back track to book one and make your way forward. She offers sets of these books that make it a bit easier to keep them in order.
She writes a number of other series though the Zoe series has the most books to date. She also has a spin off series from the Zoe Donovan series called Zimmerman Academy.
If you like a good mystery. If you want a clean read. If you want a light but thoughtful reading experience I highly recommend Kathi's work. She is quickly proving herself to be a master of the genre. You can find out more about Kathi on Facebook and Pinterest.
